Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA)

Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) is a synthetic polymer that effective in film forming, emulsifying, and has an adhesive quality. PVA grades with varying degrees of polymerization and hydrolysis. The properties of the various grades are mainly governed by the molecular weight and the remaining content of acetyl groups.

Properties :

  • Water-soluble polymers.
  • Have good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity.
  • Consists of 3 grades : Partially hydrolyzed, medium hydrolyzed, fully hydrolyzed.

Applications :

  • As binder in textile sizes.
  • As auxiliaries in paper coatings.
  • As adhesives and water-activated adhesives.
  • As protective colloid.

Field of application: As binder in textile sizes, auxiliaries in paper coatings, adhesives and water-activated adhesives, and can used as protective colloid.
